On June 21, 2004, I predicted an earthquake of magnitude >=5 in Yunnan with an earthquake cloud, whose relevant epicenter was marked by a question mark in this image [1]. Although I have appealed for a fund many times, neither a government, nor people gave me one. As a result, a hopeful work to pinpoint out a large impending epicenter becomes very difficult artificially. However, I have still tried to do my best even though I was not sure. On August 10, the USGS reported that an earthquake of magnitude 5.2 happened at 27.2N 103.74E, Yunnan-Sichuan-Guizhou [2], while China reported an M5.6 in Ludian county, Yunnan province. Comparing the question mark with the epicenter of the USGS report, the location is exact surprisingly. Both the magnitude and the time are also correct. In short, the prediction is accurate. On the other hand, ABC News reported that 4 people were killed, and 594 were injured [3]. I am sorry for the Chinese Seismological Bureau (CSB) that offers me no fund to make sure to save those victims. To help people in earthquake hazard, I appeal CSB to support my work. |
