SHORT TERM PREDICTION

A Chef Can Not Cook without Material

- June 1, 2004 -

First of all, I would like to thank dear Iranian people for their deep believe in my work. They told me how many members his or her family has. Together, 12 million people live in Tehran. They also told me that the M6.3 earthquake had happen in the north direction [1], 70 km far from Tehran, and convinced me to save them. Some people requested me to give them more details, and some others to inform them by email. I understand them at all, but it is too difficult for me to do for some reasons.

First, it is unnecessary to persuade me to save people because I have already been devoting myself to earthquake prediction for 10 years since the 6.7 Northridge earthquake on Jan. 17, 1994

Second, I would like to share a famous Chinese fable, called "A chef can not cook without material" with everybody. There was a notable women, whose food was highly admired by all people in a town long time ago. Her parents-in-law got angry because nobody admired them. Once, they invited many friends for dinner. Everyone was very happy to come, but was soon astonished by no food to eat. Then, the couple came out to claim that their daughter-in-law would have cooked nothing if they had not offered her good material. Suddenly, everybody understood, "A chef can not cook without material", and the story became a well-known fable in China. However, foreign people may not hear about it, so they request me to predict earthquakes, but do not offer me a fund for necessary data [2] like the couple of parents-in-law.

Finally, I would like to reveal a true story. Once, an Iranian manager in general wrote me to admire my work, show his love to people, and propose a cooperation. I thanked him, introduced the difficulty of my work, and asked him if he could offer me a fund. Afterwards, he disappeared forever. This story makes me confused to what a person claims with what a person does. Now, many people explain how they worry about a large earthquake, and request me to offer more details. On the other hand, no one proposed how to give me a fund to solve satellite data problems, so I am confused again for how I can "Cook without material". Therefore, I have to say that I am sorry for no ability to reply their questions. What I can say is to hope all of Gods to help Iranian people. Good luck!
